Longer Cover Base Options

We love using Bi4Cloud and Cover Base really helps with our forecasting process. Currently there is a cover base 8 and a cover base 20 option, however with out context we often need to be looking at longer time periods like 30 weeks. Could we get an option that allows 30 weeks, or have the option to put in our own cover base period as an integer input?

    Hi Chris Fodor,

The Inventory Cover report is built with a short term sales cycle (8 weeks) and a longer term cycle (20 weeks).

At this time these date periods are fixed in this report so not able to be changed by the user.

Can I suggest you also look at the Bi4 Item Sales v All Inventory report instead as this allows you to select up to 12 months of Monthly sales history and compare that to Inventory On hand, on Order etc. See:

You could export this report to Excel and add the following 3 columns to calculate the Cover based on any date range you have selected, so if you choose 8 months to display simply add:

    • Column A to sum the the 8 months sales history (or use the existing 12 months sales total column)
    • Column B to calculate average monthly sales over that period = Column A / 8 months ( or the no. of weeks)
    • Column C to calculate how many months of Cover is in Inventory on Hand = Inventory on Hand Qty / Column B (ave monthly sales)

    I hope this helps
